DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, Dr Emma Chapman has been taken ill and is unable to give her planned presentation. \nWe are very pleased\, however\, that Professor Milton Mermikides\, will be joining us instead on Monday 26th October at 3 pm\, with his presentation The Music of Light and Colour.  \nSpeaker: Professor Milton Mermikides \n  Professor of Music\, University of Surrey and Gresham Professor of Music   \nThe colours of a rainbow and the notes of a musical scale may seem worlds apart. Yet both can be explored through patterns\, frequencies and relationships. Professor Milton Mermikides examines the science behind light and colour\, the physical nature of sound\, and the remarkable ways our senses interpret these different forms of information. Beginning with Newton’s investigations into the spectrum\, he follows attempts to connect colour with musical pitch and explores how technology can transform visual images into sound.
