Out of Africa: The recent emergence of homo sapiens from East Africa, and the complex story of the hominids that preceded us

In this fascinating talk, Robin Clegg of Swindon u3a will present a broad-brush overview of the human story over the last million years, including how successive migrations were influenced by climatic factors, and the surprising revelation that Homo sapiens were interbreeding with Neanderthals and Denisovans not all that long ago. He’ll also explain how recent developments in genetic research and DNA ‘detective’ technologies have greatly aided our better understanding of human evolution and our emergence as a global species.
