But wait: the same technologies that gave us the vaccine may soon deliver something even more far-reaching – a cure for cancer. Oncolytic viruses, which have a natural ability to target cancer cells more avidly than healthy cells, can now be genetically engineered to attack only these cells, opening up exciting new possibilities for safer and more effective treatments.
