Adapting the UK to Climate Change
Continued release of greenhouse gases into the Earth’s atmosphere is pushing global average temperatures to 2C above pre-industrial levels by 2040 rising to 3C beyond 2100. We need to adapt to more extreme weather, floods, fires and sea level rise. In this talk we focus on the UK and consider how to adapt to climate change across 6 domains: water supply, food security, flooding, extreme heat events, public health, nature biodiversity and wildfires. We also look at the effectiveness of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP3) published by the government in 2023.
