AI News Events are 90 min Zoom based updates on what is happening in the world of AI. Any u3a member can attend. Goto https://www.u3a.org.uk/events/educational-events#Events and scroll down to find the next AI news event and book a place. Unless otherwise stated they take place at 10am on a Friday. Each event is chaired by a member of the AI team

u3a Festival York 1st to 3rd July 2026:

  • Wednesday 1st July 11:00-12:30 Talks from York University on Safe AI plus panel discussion
  • Thursday 2nd July 09:00-11:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 – Hands on workshop using AI Chatbots – bring your tablet or laptop.
  • Friday 3rd July 13:30-15:00 AI for my u3a – How to get started with AI activities in your own u3a.
  • Throughout the conference the AI Booth will be open in the main concourse for you to drop by and chat about all things AI.

Preparing for an AI World. An online course of four 2 hour sessions on getting started with AI. Monday November 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd at 14:00. Booking via the u3a online learning events website in the Autumn.

Courses

The u3a AI course that has proved most popular is David Mcall’s Web based Silver AI Course and Russell Whitworth’s Powerpoint version of it. There are six modules which are typically run by u3as at 2hrs a week for six weeks. Details on our Padlet, and dont forget to provide feedback if you use the material

The six modules: Making AI Images and Songs; AL Chat; Advanced AI Images; Ethics and AI Futures; and The Rise of the Robots.
