And the weather forecast for the coming decades is ……….

Climate change will have significant impacts on natural and human systems. As well as rising temperatures, in the future we expect to see changes to the hydrological cycle that will contribute to these impacts.
In this talk Dr. Stephen Blenkinsop, Senior Lecturer and Principal Research Associate in Climate and Climate Change for the School of Engineering at Newcastle University, examined how we derive projections of future climate. We then explored what the state-of-the-art science tells us about the extent to which climate change is responsible for recent UK extreme weather and how rainfall may change in the UK in the future. We ask what future changes might mean for our cities, infrastructure and health, and importantly what we can do about it.
The talk was followed by an extensive Q&A session
