Unravelling the Three-Dimensional Structure of Proteins

These large, complex molecules are involved in almost every function of living cells, yet, until very recently, their spatial configurations – the key to their versatility – had been resolved for just a handful of the many thousands found in the human body. But today, thanks to advances in AI, reliable structural predictions that could take years to formulate using traditional methods, can now be generated literally at the push of a button. In this fascinating talk, David McLellan, of Torridge u3a, will review the background, rapid evolution, and potential benefits of this major scientific breakthrough.
