Liver Transplantation

Our speaker this month, Michael Wright, convenor of the High Wycombe u3a Science group, was placed on the liver transplant waiting list in 2022.  This talk is based on what he has learnt.  It is about the processes that surround a transplant from diagnosis to life afterwards.  It includes some basics about the liver and its diseases, the history of transplants, and where and how many are carried out in the UK.  Note: This talk does not include pictures of the surgery being carried out.
